Fletcher Academy acknowledges a God-given responsibility to be deliberate stewards of the blessings He provides. The Development office established this web page to share cost-saving ideas. Not every idea will work so evaluate any strategy thoroughly before adopting. If you have an idea or testimony to share, please contact us.
Govdeals.com
Similar to the idea of ebay, Govdeals takes surplus property government entities don’t want or need anymore and resells it to eligible non-profits. Only government entities may sell on Govdeals but anyone may buy the items listed.
Testimony: Blue Mountain Academy desperately needed new dorm room furniture, but the school couldn’t handle the costs involved: at least $3,500 per room and $128,000 to furnish both dorms. That changed when the maintenance director and vice principal for finance found a listing on Govdeals.com. They found someone was selling an entire dormitory of furniture from a university. BMA won the bid for $3,000 and acquired bunk beds with springs, desks, chairs and bookcases for every dorm room, including an extra 20 sets of furniture. The school paid $3,000 total for the furniture and even sold scrap metal from the old furniture for $1,500, reducing the cost in half. This deal saved the school more than $100,000.
